Give it up for Kyle, our CEO! We are over the moon to have him lead our team, and can’t wait for you to get to know him!
What drew you to Magneti?
The people – the opportunity to work with talented, funny, engaging, knowledgeable, sincere people was too hard to resist!
If you could instantly learn one new language, what would it be?
Mandarin, hands down.
What’s your favorite book series? (or two, or three…)
Lord of the Rings, J. R. R. Tolkien: iconic, beautiful, genre-shaping, complex and relatable, this disambiguous tale of good and evil has shaped me in more ways than I can count.
The Stormlight Archive, Brandon Sanderson: a sprawling, albeit unfinished, series from one of my favorite modern authors is some of the best fantasy literature being written today.
If everything you ever lost was suddenly returned to you, what would you most be excited to see?
If we include “stolen” items, my Texas A&M Aggie Ring. I’m 99% certain it was taken out of my car, and it’d be great to have that visual representation of my alma mater back on my hand. This is why we can’t have nice things…
Real World, or Road Rules?
Neither? I honestly don’t know the premise of either – we didn’t have cable growing up, but from what I gather I didn’t miss much.
If you could win a medal in one random life skill, what would you claim the gold for?
Mowing and yard maintenance excellence – I’d wear the medal every day and tell everyone I came across of my grass, hedges and weed-eating fame.
If you were a superhero, what would your superpower and name be?
Superhero powers usually come from a response to a weakness, and I’m particularly clumsy, so I’d be Captain Klutz, wearing my weakness on my sleeve, and going around saving people from their own clumsiness. The world would be saved from broken dishes, dings in the wall and upended bookshelves. It would be a more beautiful, complete world with Captain Klutz at the ready.
Your future biography will be titled:
Big Red: How the gum, hair color and moniker changed a boy, and a nation
If you could have a one-on-one dinner with any person, alive or dead, who would it be?
I want to talk to Tolkien about his experience in WWI, what coming home was like, how his brain worked to be able to read 90 languages, write in 60 of them and write three of his own, and learn about what it was like to have his novel be so widely read, loved and criticized.
What advice would you give your younger self?
This awkwardness will end so slow down and breathe, focus on what you enjoy doing and you’ll go far kid. Goshdarnit, people like you!
