Three Simple Strategies We’ve Used to Grow Magneti

Magneti has enjoyed eight straight years of strong growth. We started a marketing agency in Adam’s basement in 2011, and now have two offices in Colorado Springs, Colo. and Denver. We are foremost proud of our team and have learned so much along the way. It’s exciting to lead a growing company with clients and partners who believe in and support our vision.

We have never changed our approach to growth—these three simple perspectives helped us get where we are and will help us move forward. There are three main ingredients that our leadership team has focused on:

1. “Meet Lots of People”

Adam Williams, CEO, and I love to meet people—a lot of people.

We like networking and making new friends. Last year, our team took the StrengthsFinder test, and ‘Winning Others Over’ (WOO) is one of our top five strengths. What does this mean? We find it easy to talk to and engage with strangers, and this strength has been powerful for us as business owners growing a company.

Engaging and having fun with others is embedded in our natural DNA. We want to grow our personal network and connect with others.

2. “Be Helpful”

After we meet people, we genuinely want to help them. No, we don’t go around giving random people unwanted advice – in conversation with new and old connections, we listen. We try to be supportive of others’ business endeavors or personal dreams. No agenda, just conversation.

Sometimes, by doing just that, we receive a business referral or recommendation, which we’re always grateful for.

3. “Obsess Over Great Work”

Often, these referrals within our network become business for Magneti. And from the moment we sign a contract, we commit to providing amazing work. There are a lot of organizations that are highly focused on client acquisition, but we would rather put sales efforts on hold to make sure resources are going toward current accounts. We aim to always be that way.

Doing great work often results in:

  • More work with current clients (our pipeline in Q1 of 2019 was about 70% from current happy clients)
  • Client referrals

Magneti was listed as #1666 on the Inc. 5000 in 2018 for fastest-growing companies in the U.S., and we are very proud of that recognition. But, that listing was the result of us caring about our people – meeting them, treating them well and then delivering on our promises. Whether or not we were on the list, we would not change how we live our lives and engage with others.

Adam and I work very hard to make Magneti a place where people want to work, and a vendor-partner that other businesses want to work with. Through connecting with other people, showing our trustworthiness and support, and then exceeding expectations, we attract people who want to be a part of this journey with us. Our services have grown and expanded along with our team, meaning we can do more great work and succeed in more areas of marketing than ever before!

Anthony Hyatt

Anthony started at Magneti as an intern some years ago and knows a mildly concerning amount of the team’s long history of inside jokes. A former Senior Marketing Manager, he oscillates his time between using a Thesaurus, excavating the brilliance of his colleagues, and working very hard on generating original thoughts.

Anthony has since left Magneti to pursue his passion for screen writing. We are grateful for his input and influence in growing Magneti into the marketing machine it is today.
